With a brand-new proms styling event and the return of the ever-popular fashion shows, May promises to be a fashion fest at Bromley’s shopping centre.
The new Prom Nights event, which takes place from Fri 20 to Sun 22 May, is being staged to meet the increasing demand for ‘black tie’ fashion and style advice for student prom-goers. Said Maria Cooper, Marketing Manager at the Glades, “The prom phenomenon, imported from the US, is spreading like wildfire. Most of our local schools and colleges now hold prom events, allowing students to celebrate the end of their exams and party with their friends before heading off to university, a gap year or their new career. Our brand-new Prom Nights event offers them three days of free tips and styling ideas for their big night out.”
The event will centre around the Glades’ new Style Pod, with integral changing rooms allowing girls to try on fabulous frocks and guys to sample trendy tuxes. The Glades’ Style Advisor will also be on hand with tips on the latest trends to get the perfect prom look. Plus there will be advice on hair styling, accessories, shoes and jewellery – in fact, everything to make each partygoer feel they are the belle or beau of the ball! Adding to the proms fever, the Glades will be running a special proms competition in which the winner will bag a personal makeover plus a fantastic £1,000 for their school.
Four days of fashion fun
Shoppers seeking inspiration for their summer wardrobe – especially those with a special occasion to attend – will be delighted to hear that the Glades’ ever-popular fashion shows will be back from Fri 13 to Mon 16 May. Under the title Fashion Daze , this year’s event features the high-energy catwalk shows on Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15, followed by brand-new Style Advice Shows on Monday 16.
Taking place in Central Atrium at 12.00, 1.30, 2.30 and 4.30 (4.00 on the Sunday), the main Summer Fashion Shows will showcase the very best of this season’s fashion to a great summer soundtrack and with hot choreography. Warming up the catwalk on each of the three days at 11.00 will be the Classic Chic Occasion Wear Show , a must for everyone with an invitation to a summer wedding, special party or high-profile sports event.
On Monday 16 May, the catwalk will be the focus of the brand-new Style Advice Shows at 10.00, 12.00 and 2.00. Shoppers will be able to enjoy hot style advice, make-up demonstrations and invaluable fashion tips – including 30 ways to wear a sarong, 10 ways to tie a scarf and how to turn last year’s buys into this year’s look.
